Big Saturday at the OHC Wood Shop

Yesterday was a very productive day at OHC. In the morning, I started the day applying Walrus Oil to the tops of five walnut live-edged charcuterie boards that a client commissioned last month. They are looking beautiful! Next is waxing and buffing with Walrus Oil Wax and they will be ready to ship. I sent photos to the client who was very pleased they way the boards are coming along.

Next, I poured the final epoxy pour on my latest table top. It is a 54x27 live-edge honey locust river table using a combination of Bora Bora Blue and Caribbean Blue Mica Powder. The mold is a first for me because it is only 3-sided since the fourth side will remain live edge. I am really pleased on how it is coming and it will be a smaller companion table to a 72x36 honey locust river table I will be creating in the near future.

Next, one of our favorite clients came over to the Wood Shop to work on his maple/box elder epoxy river desk top. Since he lives locally, he wanted to be hands-on in creating his table top. We poured his epoxy river using deep blue mica powder from Black Diamond. It turned out beautifully. He brought his wife by later in the evening to show off his work in progress. He is contemplating doing epoxy river stair risers for his home. That would be a fun project if they decide to go for it.

Next, Carolyn and I took two of our grand gals, Lindy and Vivian ("Vivy") to Carthage, Missouri to the beautiful downtown courthouse square. We had lunch and picked up a couple bottles of olive oil and basalmic vinegar at the Carthage Olive Oil Company. It is the best, especially as a dip for a straight-from-the-oven loaf of Carolyn's homemade bread! We visited several other shops and found Garde Manger (Keeper of the Pantry) charcuterie shop. It is a beautiful shop located just off the northwest corner of the Carthage Square. I met with the owner and he will be selling Ozark Hardwood Creations charcuterie boards very soon. Come visit Garde Manger to load up the pantry for your next party or family gathering.

After posting photos of the oiled charcuterie boards on www.ozarkhardwoodcreations.com and OWC's Facebook page, a good friend who happens to sit right next to us at the Oklahoma Sooners football games placed an order for an 18 inch lazy susan. That will be a fun project to design and create. Thanks for your order, Torri and Ian!

Back home, it. was time to do one of the most peaceful activities in woodworking- sanding. I plug in my earbuds under my hearing protector headset and rock out. I love it. Currently, I have nine charcuterie boards in various stages of creation and hope to finish all of them up in a week or two so I can build some more cutting boards. Carolyn and I will be selling our creations at a few festival/markets this fall so I need to keep up the inventory. Of course, I will be continuing to work on epoxy river table tops which I love to do and I will be working on Torri and Ian's lazy susan. I am always ready to take on more commissions and help create something just for you. Please Let Carolyn and I know if you need a quilted or hardwood piece, created however you would like, for an upcoming gift or just to keep for yourself. Until next time....
